Spiritual Heart of Georgia
Just upriver from Tbilisi, Mtskheta is where Georgia’s Christian story began. Once the ancient capital, today it is a UNESCO World Heritage town anchored by two masterpieces: Jvari Monastery (6th century), poised on a hill where the Aragvi meets the Mtkvari, and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), whose harmonious stonework shelters centuries of royal coronations and legends.
