Land of Towers
Svaneti feels mythic. Stone towers rise from villages like watchful elders, ringed by glaciers and jagged peaks. Mestia makes an ideal base for hikes to Chalaadi Glacier and Koruldi Lakes, while remote Ushguli- one of Europe’s highest inhabited communities- rewards the bumpy approach with a view straight from an illuminated manuscript.
